Most players only dream of playing Pebble Beach. Winning there is another story.
To make the winner’s walk down the 18th fairway is to follow in the footsteps of some of the game’s greatest players; Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Tom Watson, Phil Mickelson.
Straight Down ambassador Brandon Harkins got to make that memorable trip along the shores of Stillwater Cove en route to winning this year’s TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational. With a score of 21-under 267, Harkins finished two shots ahead of some of the top players from the PGA TOUR, LPGA, PGA TOUR Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.
Harkins shot a final-round 66 at Pebble Beach, punctuating his victory with a birdie on the par-5 18th. The real highlight was his first-round 63, which he closed with eight straight birdies to shoot 28 on the back nine.
It was another big win for Harkins in his native Northern California. The Chico State alum won the Straight Down Fall Classic two years ago. He finished 39th on this year’s Korn Ferry Tour points list after a season that featured four top-10s, including one runner-up finish.
