Straight Down ambassador Sam Stevens earns PGA Tour card!
Sam Stevens wrote a simple note to himself before Sunday’s final round of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.
“I want to play on the PGA Tour,” it read.
Hours later, he made that dream come true.
Sam clinched his first PGA Tour card with a T12 finish in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, including a course-record-tying 62 in the third round. On Sunday, he needed a par on Victoria National Golf Club’s difficult 18th hole to graduate to golf’s biggest stage. Sam split the fairway and hit the green before two-putting for the most important par of his career.
We’re proud to have supported Sam this season and were on the edge of our seats as he played the final holes Sunday. After graduating from collegiate powerhouse Oklahoma State in 2018, the third-generation pro worked his way up each rung of professional golf’s ladder en route to reaching the biggest stage. He won the money title on the Midwest-based All-Pro Tour in 2020 and finished second on PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s money list last year. Now, after one season on the Korn Ferry Tour, he’ll join Straight Down Ambassadors Robert Streb and Mark Hubbard on the PGA Tour.
Sam has already shown that his game is Tour-ready. He made the cut in both his Tour starts earlier this year, including a T49 at the U.S. Open in June. He also made the cut at the Honda Classic in February after Monday qualifying. On the Korn Ferry Tour, Sam made the cut in 14 of his last 15 starts, including nine top-25 finishes.
The 26-year-old will begin his rookie season on Tour at next week’s Fortinet Championship in Napa, California, after earning one of 25 cards available via the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. We can’t wait to watch as Sam continues his promising career on the PGA Tour. Join us in following along.
